HILLAH SHRINERS, from 1908 to 1922, was very active in SOUTHERN OREGON, giving back to the communities of the NOBILITY OF HILLAH. Since 1922, they assumed an additional task, the HOSPITALS.
On September 16, 1922, a group of Shriners started a program for Shriners in North America. This was the day that the WORLD'S FIRST SHRINERS HOSPITAL opened in Shreveport Louisiana to treat CHILDREN affected by the disabling effects of POLIO.
Since the beginning over twenty-two SHRINERS HOSPITALS have provided expert medical care to over 900,000 thousand patients from MONTREAL to MEXICO CITY. For eighty-six years Shiners have given hope and help to children from around the world disabled by SEVERE BURNS, ORTHOPEDIC PROBLEMS, SPINAL CORD INJURIES, as well as CLEFT LIP AND PALATE DEFORMITIES.
The Shriners believes that the future hope for CHILDREN lies in today's research. In the coming years SHRINERS will spend an estimated SEVEN HUNDRED EIGTHY Million dollars to update the hospitals and will invest more than THIRTY SEVEN MILLION (plus) in support of the one hundred plus ongoing research projects of SHRINERS HOSPITALS. This includes five medical conferences: TWENTY FOUR research fellowships and NINETEEN shared research facilities.
During the year 2008, HILLAH SHRINERS will be celebrating 100 years of dedicated service, both to the SHRINERS HOSPITALS and the COMMUNTIES of SOUTHERN OREGON.
WOULD YOU JOIN US FOR THIS CELEBRATION?
Lady Carole and I wish all a very successful year.
